MECLIZINE DRUG INFORMATION

Older adults may be especially sensitive to the anticholinergic effects of these medicines, like difficult urination, constipation, and dryness of nose, mouth, and throat.
Allergies - Inform your doctor if you have ever had any unusual or allergic reaction to meclizine, buclizine, or cyclizine. Also inform him or her if you are allergic to any other substances, such as foods, dyes or preservatives.
Drug Interactions - There are some drugs that should never be used together. There are other cases where two medicines used together will cause an interaction. It may still be safe to use both, but your physician may need to change the doses or take other precautions.
If taking meclizine, cyclizine, or buclizine, it is especially important that your doctor know if you are taking the following:

These medications may decrease on alertness or cause drowsiness. Be sure you know how you will react before you use machines, drive, or do anything else that requires mental alertness.
Cyclizine, buclizine and meclizine may cause dry mouth. Gum, candy, ice bits melted in your mouth, or a saliva substitute may give temporary relief. If your mouth continues to feel dry for over two weeks, tell your doctor or dentist. Constant dry mouth may increase your risk of dental diseases. These may include tooth decay, gum disease, and fungus infections.
Not all of these side effects have been reported for each of these medicines. They have been reported for at least one of them, however. Cyclizine, buclizine, and meclizine are similar. Any of these side effects may occur with any of those medicines.
These side affects, if they occur, may go away as your body adjusts. However, tell your physician if they continue or are bothersome:

If you take these medications regularly and miss a dose, take the missed dose as soon as you remember it. But if it is almost time for the next dose, skip the missed dose, and continue with the regular dosing schedule. Do not double your doses.
Keep out of the reach of children.
Store these medications away from direct light and heat.
Heat and/or moisture can cause the medicine to break down. Do not store in the bathroom, near a sink or in other damp places.
Discard any outdated medicine or medicine no longer needed. Be sure that any discarded medication is out of the reach of children.
